Submersible pump for the Aquarius well - parameters, design and repair

In the domestic market, centrifugal well electric pumps for lifting water produced in Ukraine under the Aquarius brand have proven themselves well. The Promelektro manufacturing enterprise from the city of Kharkov produces a wide range of borehole, surface and vibration electric pumps. The Aquarius well pump is known as a durable and high-quality unit that can function without breakdowns for up to 10 years.

Areas of application of the Aquarius downhole electric pump

Aquarius well pumps are designed for domestic use and can be used for the following purposes:

  • for water intake from wells or wells when organizing individual water supply for houses;
  • for lifting clean water from various types of reservoirs - swimming pools, ponds, lakes or rivers;
  • when carrying out drainage work in case of flooding of basement rooms in houses (underground garages, cellars, basements);
  • for watering plots of land with gardens and vegetable gardens, filling barrels and various types of containers with water.

Main differences from other models

When choosing products from this manufacturer, you can be sure that they are made using only environmentally friendly materials, such as:

  1. Steel;
  2. Brass;
  3. Food plastic.

This guarantees the purity of the pumped water and eliminates the possibility of any impurities getting into it.

Another difference from similar devices is the high efficiency of Aquarius pumps. They consume a small amount of electricity during operation and are resistant to power surges.

Dividing the housing into two compartments prevents the engine oil used to operate the engine from getting into the water.

Operating principle and design of the Aquarius electric pump

The electric pump is classified as a centrifugal model, in which water is drawn through an inlet located in the center of the impeller axis. The liquid entering inside is thrown by curved blades to the edge of the working chamber, and due to centrifugal force is pushed out through the outlet pipe in the side of the housing.

The pump operates due to the rotation of an electric motor and is structurally made of two parts: electric and pumping. The first has an asynchronous electric motor and an external control unit attached to a cord with a plug.

The electric motor includes a stator and a rotor mounted on end bearings and in a bath of environmentally friendly oil.

The pumping part includes a strainer in the middle part of the device, a stage block with centrifugal impellers, cylindrical rings and petal outlets driven by the electric motor shaft, and an outlet pipe.

Device

The submersible device looks like an oblong capsule with a small diameter - only 10-16 cm. Other models from the Aquarius 0.32 line may have a smaller diameter.

A submersible pump will work by rotating or by forcing water inside the housing. The water is then pumped up the pipe and into the system. They produce products from stainless steel, thermoplastic and other alloys.

Submersible models are divided into a number of subtypes. Based on the principle of operation, they are divided into centrifugal and vortex models, screw and vibration products. The first 3 types are very similar to each other. They differ only in the way they raise the liquid:

  • Centrifugal devices “Aquarius” use centrifugal forces of rotation of a number of small rotors at once. The rotors pump water, then launch it into the pipes in the form of a spiral and actively inject it into the hose. This is the most popular variety of this type of product.
  • A vortex submersible device creates a regular vortex in the chamber, which helps raise the liquid to a certain level. In terms of pressure they are often equal to or slightly inferior to centrifugal devices, but in terms of pressure they are much ahead.
  • Screw devices use powerful but primitive-looking screws that pump liquid and deliver it to the top.

A vibration device is a model of a completely different type. Even the vibration product looks different than other designs. Its body is larger and not elongated. It works due to the rotation of a special tool engine inside the device - this causes multi-frequency vibration. The effect of vibration in the chamber will be transmitted to the water and stimulate its flow. This way it is possible to raise the water to all the required levels without using augers, impellers, screws or anything like that.

The vibration product is inferior to the first three varieties in terms of efficiency, but it is much cheaper, more unpretentious in operation and will not break when in contact with dirty liquid.

By type of immersion, devices are divided into:

  • standard;
  • deep.

Conventional models dive to a level of up to 50 m. Well, the deep versions of “Aquarius” can operate at levels from 60-80 m depth or slightly lower.

Surface models do not have many subtypes and are used only for servicing small wells. The problem is that with a pressure of 25-30 m, they can pump liquid from a depth of up to 10 m. But not every well can have such a high level. Consumer reviews indicate that the surface-type pump is extremely reliable and easy to use, but its technical characteristics and serious operating noise are negative qualities.

Design features of electric pumps Aquarius

The Aquarius submersible pump for water intake has the following design features:

  • The unit consists of modules: a unit with an electric motor in the lower part and a block of impellers in the upper half; a mesh filter is installed in the middle of the housing.
  • The body of the electric pump is made of stainless steel; a brass cover with a 1-inch thread inside and two side lugs for attaching a suspension cable is installed at the top.
  • The unit has an external capacitor module with a power cable and a plug with a grounding contact (electrical protection class I); to protect against overheating, a German Thermik thermal relay is built into the electric pump winding.
  • There is no built-in check valve in the pump body; when connecting the pipeline, it is installed in the adapter coupling at the outlet of the unit.

How not to run into a fake

Aquarius pumps have proven themselves well on the Russian market. This, in turn, as usual, led to the appearance of, if not outright fakes, then “Aquarius” replicas, sometimes very accurately copying the appearance of this pump. However, recognizing a fake is quite easy. Experts can give very specific recommendations on this matter:

  1. First of all, you need to look at the top brass cap. It should have the inscription “Promelektro” on one side, and “Kharkov” on the other. The letters must be clearly readable and must be convex, that is, embossed using the factory method.
  2. There is also a “Do not remove cover” sign on the bottom of the pump.
  3. There, on the bottom cover, there should be a screw sealed with red paint.

In general, there are some other signs of authenticity. However, they are so highly specialized that there is simply no point in memorizing them and understanding them for an ordinary consumer.

Deep pumps Aquarius for wells technical characteristics

Aquarius deep pumps, designed for water supply to country houses, have the following operational and technical parameters:

  • Single-phase supply voltage is 220 V for all models; the device remains operational in the range from 198 to 242 V.
  • The pumps are designed for pumping clean water with a temperature of no more than 35 C., mineralization should not exceed 1500 g/m. cube
  • The nominal supply volume, depending on the model, ranges from 1.2 to 5.8 m3/h.
  • The rated motor power of different brands ranges from 440 to 2820 W.
  • The depth of immersion of the unit under water is up to 10 m.
  • The pressure of electric pumps at nominal flow is 14 - 140 meters.
  • The outer diameter of the pump is 96 mm, BPTsE can operate in wells larger than 120 mm, BPTsE models are designed for operation in wells or installation in wells from 100 mm.

Surface Models

Surface pumps are also present in the Aquarius product catalog. The assortment is smaller and is represented only by the model range labeled BC.

The devices (there are 3 models in total) are designed for pumping clean water with temperatures from +1 to +35 degrees. Designed for any type of work that falls under these conditions.

They are usually used for irrigation, and the source can be either a well or a tank of water. They can also serve to constantly provide the water supply system of a residential cottage.

The devices are driven by a single-phase asynchronous motor, which was specially designed for long-term continuous operation. The units and parts of the unit are made of high-strength materials, and the engine is equipped with thermal protection.

A clear advantage of the models is the low noise level (which, however, is not surprising - their power is low).

The BC series includes, as mentioned above, three models: 1.2-18, 1.6-20 and 1.6-25. The first and third ones have a horizontal body position, the second one has a vertical position.

The characteristics of the devices are given below:

  • weight
    : 8.6 / 9.9 / 13.8 kg;
  • productivity
    : 1.2 / 1.6 / 1.6 “cubes” per hour (in fact, this parameter is indicated as the first number in the model labeling);
  • voltage
    : 220 V;
  • power
    : 690 / 900 / 1250 W;
  • water intake depth
    - no more than 7 m;
  • created pressure:
    38 m;
  • price
    : 4000 / 4500 / 5000 rubles.

Starting the pump of this model series is possible only after it is filled with water - through the corresponding pipe.

Well, now here is the opinion of users:

Evgeniy, 39 years old, Ufa:

The BC 1.6-20 has been running at the dacha for three years now - it’s quite enough for the house, and for watering too. The purchase is profitable - it’s cheap, and practical, and it consumes little, and most importantly, it copes with its task.

Artem, 39 years old, Taganrog:

BC 1.6-25 was given to me by a friend who works in a pumping equipment store. He said that for the money this is a good option. It's been running for three years now, no complaints.

Malfunctions and repairs

The approximate cost of repairing the Aquarius pump will be from 600-800 rubles on average. This is the diagnosis and elimination of minor problems, such as a clogged filter or cleaning.

Since most Aquarius well pumps do not have a filter, they periodically require preventative cleaning. And the entry of any solid particles into the pump can be called one of the reasons for malfunctions in pumps.

Other causes of malfunctions include violation of operating conditions (even though these pumps are quite reliable) or failure of pump parts due to wear (then they need to be replaced). These are most often bearings.

The connection diagram for the Aquarius pump assumes the presence of a supply pipe (for water supply to the house), often also a relay or other automation. Therefore, to determine faults, before removing the pump, you should check:

  • The integrity of the elements that supply power to the pump
    (connection, cable, serviceability of the plug, as well as the motor itself - which can also fail and require restoration or replacement).
  • The functionality of the water supply system
    (both the integrity of hoses or pipes, and possible freezing of water in the tank. Also, the pump could simply pump out water below the water intake level - in this case, of course, it will not be supplied to the system either).

Repairing the Aquarius pump with your own hands is quite possible, but it requires some equipment to create pressure on the pump elements during assembly/disassembly, since the required pressure cannot be achieved simply by hand force.

To clean the submersible pump, there is no need to disassemble the pump part; here you can simply disconnect the pump components (by unscrewing the corresponding bolts on the body, as indicated in the instructions for each model).

But if there is a malfunction in the pump part (for example, the impellers are damaged), then a complete disassembly is impossible. Here it is better to trust the specialists.

Pumping stations

You can raise liquid to the surface in various ways: using modern equipment, or the old fashioned way using a bucket. Which one will you choose?

There is no doubt that the first one to use an Aquarius submersible pump or any other, but corresponding to the parameters of the well and the needs of a particular family.

However, many people choose this particular model. Why do they do this? We will understand this in our article.

Types of Aquarius pumps

The Ukrainian manufacturer produces pumping equipment for water intake from depths of several categories; household submersible electric pumps have the following letter marking:

  • BTsPE - household centrifugal submersible electric pumps, consist of 4 series of different capacities with a designated nominal flow volume: BTsPE 0.32, BTsPE 0.5, BTsPE 1.2, BTsPE 1.6.
  • NVP is a screw submersible pump, the manufacturer supplies to the market only one model of the NVP series - NVP 0.32;
  • BV are household vibrating electric pumps with two check valves, well known to consumers under the brand names Alpheus, Orion and Poseidon.

The original Ukrainian Aquarius vibration electric pumps, which are visually different from their analogues by their two-valve design, should not be confused with the Russian Aquarius-3, produced in Kirov at the Lepse plant.

Marking of electric pumps Aquarius

Household centrifugal submersible electric pumps BCPE are marked with the following symbols:

  1. The first digit indicates the nominal volume of fluid supplied by the device in cubic meters per second divided by 1000. To convert this designation to the more common cubic meters per hour, the figure is multiplied by 36.
  2. The second digital designation corresponds to the pressure on the pressure characteristics graph at the specified nominal flow rate.
  3. Some modifications of electric pumps have the symbol U at the end - in this case, BCPEU means an improved model with a power cable built into the housing, coming out from the top (in older models it was located on the side in a recess in the housing and was covered with a protective cover).

What to look for when choosing a pump

When choosing a particular Aquarius pump, you need to keep in mind that there are quite a few factors that should be kept in mind. And each of them can become decisive.

  • Depth of aquifers. This is actually the primary criterion by which you should focus first of all. The technical data sheet of the Aquarius pump must indicate the maximum height to which it can supply water;
  • Daily water requirement. Of course, a family of 2-4 people will not consume as much water as in the case of an industrial facility. But you also need to take into account the presence of a personal plot, which will require regular watering of the plants. For example, based on the fact that each person will need about 200 liters of water per day, then for a family of 3-4 people you will need to buy a pump with a capacity of approximately 50 liters per minute. It would be enough. Most models of Aquarius submersible pumps provide this indicator. The presence of a personal plot measuring 6 acres will add another 50 liters to this number in one minute;
  • Water intake well debit. Here is another very important indicator. It indicates exactly how much water can be taken from a given well in a given period of time. It is worth noting, however, that only a specialist can accurately calculate the flow rate of a well. The rest will have to make do with only an approximate value. In order to determine the flow rate of a well, you need to measure the time during which the well is completely empty, and then the time during which it fills up again. Then the second indicator is divided by the first. The result is a number that shows the average production rate for a given well;

    Pump complete set
    Complete set of the Aquarius pump: pump, cable, cable, capacitor box, instruction manual. The length of the cable and cable corresponds to the nominal pressure of the corresponding pump model.

  • Water pressure. This parameter can also be calculated independently. To do this, you will need to know the height of the well itself. Then another 30 meters is added to this number, expressed in meters. Then the resulting value is increased by 10%. As a result, the desired number is obtained. For example, if we are talking about a well with a depth of 45 meters, the pressure indicator in this case is 83 meters. Therefore, a submersible pump with this characteristic needs to be purchased;
  • Well diameter. It is recommended to purchase a submersible motor designed for a specific well diameter. At least not less. Otherwise, the motor simply will not fit into the finished well. In addition, it is imperative to prevent contact of the pump housing with the walls of the well. As a result of engine operation, the pump will vibrate and hit the walls of the well. This, in turn, will certainly lead to very rapid destruction of the Aquarius pump structure.

If you have doubts about your own abilities, then it is better to contact a specialist for the necessary calculations. However, usually the drilling master will be able to give all the necessary recommendations immediately after equipping the well.

Installation and connection of Aquarius pumps

Like all submersible borehole electric pumps for individual water supply, BCPE is designed to operate as part of a water supply installation complete with the main components of standard pumping stations: a hydraulic accumulator, a dry-running and pressure relay, a pressure gauge, and a filter.

Before putting the unit into operation, perform the following steps:

  1. connect the pump using a socket to the electrical network, making sure that the power cable is intact;
  2. connect the outlet pipe of the electric pump to the pressure pipeline using adapter couplings, the pipe should have a diameter of 1 inch;
  3. tie the cable to the ears of the top cover of the unit, using insulating tape or plastic clamps, connect the water pipe, cable and electrical cable together in increments of 1 - 2 meters, avoiding tension on the latter;
  4. lower the electric pump into the well, securing the cable and pipe to the head, while the depth of its immersion under water should not exceed 10 meters with a distance to the bottom of 40 cm.

During operation, it is necessary to ensure that the electric pump is completely lowered into the water and that the power cable is unwound.

Consumer Reviews

In the user environment, Aquarius pumps are rated quite highly.
Many people have already tried this unit, because it is much more affordable than its imported analogues, and therefore much more popular. At the same time, the Aquarius pump compares favorably with superchargers of other well-known brands produced in the CIS countries.

So, if the Malysh pump is designed for a service life of up to 3 years (Rucheek also has a similar resource), then Aquarius will last from 10 to 15 years.

At the same time, as many users note, it is much more resilient: if the Kid needs a half-hour break every 1.5 - 2 hours of work, then Aquarius can easily withstand the continuous regime.

According to the testimony of many owners, the Aquarius pump is not able to “go astray” either by voltage drops (within reasonable limits, of course), or by sand, which during floods flows into the well in small quantities. If clogging occurs, the pump can be easily cleaned on your own.

More complex repairs also do not cause problems: the pump is completely repairable, spare parts are cheap and delivered quite quickly. In this regard, imported equipment is much inferior to domestic equipment, which includes Aquarius.

Many people greatly regret the absence of pumps for 3-inch wells (76 mm) in the model range. The minimum well diameter of 100 mm significantly limits the scope of application of Aquarius. The automatic safety system, which turns off the pump only in case of overheating, is also considered functionally poor. It should, however, be noted that with full-fledged protective automation, the Aquarius pump would be outside the budget category and would become inaccessible to many users with limited financial resources.

To provide water to a small family and to water a plot of approximately 12 acres, it is enough to purchase an inexpensive Rucheek pump. Brook pump - technical characteristics and operating features, as well as advantages and disadvantages, read carefully.

We will consider the stages of installing a pumping station with our own hands in this block.

Maintenance and storage of the Aquarius deep pump

Electric pumps do not require special maintenance and can operate for a long time if the operating rules are followed. Before storage, the unit is removed from the well, the remaining water is drained from the pump unit and dried; this baby should be in a dry and clean room with a temperature of 5 - 35 C. at a distance of at least 1 meter from the heating radiators. It is not allowed to be in direct sunlight, in a room with aggressive gases or vapors of acids and alkalis.

Where and what is it used for?

If you think that such equipment is only suitable for lifting and pumping water, then you are mistaken. Modern pumps have a much wider range of applications. They are used not only in the private sector, but also in production.

In country cottages without Malysh pumps it is impossible to provide comfortable living conditions. After all, very few villages are connected to the central water supply; most residents have to solve this issue on their own. This will require the construction of a well or well. But in order for water to flow into the house constantly, and without any physical effort on the part of a person, an Aquarius submersible pump is needed, as one of the models that is optimal in terms of quality and price.

Let's watch the video, scope and types of them:

However, the use of equipment is not limited to these tasks. It is required:

  • For pumping melt and rainwater from the site,
  • Arrangement of irrigation and watering systems.

Industrial use of Aquarius brand pumps has even greater functionality. They can be installed in:

  • boreholes and are capable of working with liquids containing gas;
  • Mine wells to prevent their flooding;
  • Technological containers.

Such a wide scope of use is explained by the excellent technical characteristics of the equipment. It is capable of lifting liquids from great depths and at the same time has good cooling of the components. These factors make Aquarius pumps so widely popular.

Possible breakdowns and nuances of repair of Aquarius pumps

The main reasons for the failure of the BCPE electric pump are improper installation in the well, operation of the unit in contaminated water and physical wear of parts over time. Also, during long-term operation, the unit requires periodic cleaning; the operation of the pump should be regularly checked to ensure compliance with technical specifications.

To carry out work on replacing worn parts, disassemble the pump with your own hands using the following sequence of actions:

  1. Disconnects the device from the electrical network, removes it from the well and disconnects the pressure pipe and cable.
  2. Remove the mesh filter in the middle part and unscrew the four hex head bolts with a 10 mm wrench connecting the electrical and pump parts of the device.
  3. The block with impellers is fixed in the housing with a locking ring; to remove it, a part of the pump is compressed from above and below using a jack or a press, after which the locking ring is removed and the stages with impellers, guide rings and washers are removed. They can be cleaned or replaced with new parts purchased from a service center.
  4. To disassemble the block with the electric motor, unscrew the screws at the bottom of the pump, remove the cover and drain the oil, after which the electric motor can be removed to replace the end bearings.

Possible malfunctions and methods for eliminating them

Despite prevention, cases of breakdown are possible, so we will consider the most common of them.

Cleaning the pump
Preventative cleaning must be carried out every 1-2 years, but emergency unscheduled repairs are also possible if parts are worn out or the suction pipe is filled with sand ahead of time

If the pump does not turn on, perform the following actions:

  • check the presence of contacts in the socket;
  • inspect the pump for clogging with sand;
  • We measure the voltage, if there is a deficiency, we connect a stabilizer.

If productivity suddenly decreases, we check whether there is a leak in the pipeline. At the same time, we inspect and clean the filters. When the voltage decreases, we use a stabilizer.

The pump will sooner or later become clogged with sand, so we clean it: remove the mesh and protective chute, separate the pump part and the electric motor, check the operation of the shaft, and wash all the elements. We assemble the device in reverse order.

How to choose the right pump for a well Aquarius

The selection and installation of an Aquarius borehole pump must take into account the characteristics of the well (its flow rate must ensure the required volume of water intake) and the distance to the source of water consumption; we will consider the selection of a device with the required parameters using the following example.

It is necessary to provide water to a family of 3 people, the distance to the house is 30 m, the maximum distance to the water surface in the well (dynamic water level, determined when the electric pump is running) is 20 m.

When deciding how to determine water consumption for a family of three, you can use average data; in most cases it is 1.8 cubic meters per hour.

To determine the water pressure, it is necessary to sum up the length of the vertical and horizontal sections, taking into account losses, as well as the operating pressure in the system, converted to meters. If the pressure pipeline has a diameter of 1 inch, a meter of vertical water column is equal to 10 m of horizontal section, the total losses in the line are taken equal to 20% (when calculating, the pressure in the pipes is multiplied by 1.2). The electric pump is lowered 2 meters below the dynamic level; for the correct operation of the automation in the control system, it is necessary to create a maximum pressure of about 3 bar in the line, which corresponds to 30 meters of a vertical water column. As a result, we obtain the following formula for calculating the total head H in vertical column meters:

H = (22 + 30/10) x 1.2 + 30 = 60 meters.

To select the appropriate electric pump model, graphs of pressure characteristics are used, from which it can be seen that the indicated flow is 1.8 m3/h. and a nominal head of 60 m corresponds to the model BTsPE 0.5 63U.

well pump device

The right choice

The basis of the water supply system in a private house is the pump. It is necessary to lift liquid from the well, so special attention is paid to its selection. The main criteria are:

  • Source depth;
  • The water level in it.

Therefore, when purchasing the Aquarius model, you need to study its technical characteristics using the attached passport.

If you do not know the depth of the well, then it is easy to measure it yourself. To do this, use a rope with a load, gradually lowering it into the source to the very bottom. The length of its wet part will correspond to the depth of the well, and the dry part will indicate the distance to the level of the aquifer.

However, when choosing a Malysh submersible pump, it is necessary to take into account the water needs of residents. There is equipment on the market that can supply up to 200 l/min. It is necessary to choose automation for the Malysh pump taking into account the specifics of its operation. For example, for a family of 4 people, a model capable of delivering from 30 to 50 l/min is sufficient.

Watch the video, selection options:

In addition to the parameters discussed above, it is necessary to decide on one more thing – the type of unit. There are two main types:

  • Submersible;
  • Superficial.

For wells, only the first option is suitable, since the second can only be installed on the surface of the water or next to a source whose depth does not exceed 8 meters.

When buying Aquarius pumps, you need to calculate the cost based on the prices not only for the unit, but also for additional equipment. These are cables for fastening, pipes for organizing the supply of liquid to the house and an automatic machine for connecting to the network.

Compare models from different manufacturers

To make sure that Aquarius submersible pumps are truly one of the best, it is worth comparing them with similar products from other manufacturers. Let's look at several popular models belonging to different price categories and start with an inexpensive submersible pump of the Gilex brand of the Vodomet series. The main difference between this equipment and similar equipment is the presence in the design of a mesh filter with cells measuring 1.5x1.5 mm. In addition, the Vodomet submersible pump is made of materials that do not affect the taste of water and is capable of delivering from 3.6 to 7 m³/hour.

Watch the video, choosing a budget pump:

Units of this series can be used to supply liquid with excess sand content and provide a pressure of up to 115 m. Vodomet pumps operate without creating noise or vibration, therefore, they do not have a destructive effect on the walls of the casing. Prices for Gillette Vodomet submersible pumps range from 5 to 20 thousand rubles. This makes it possible to select a unit in accordance with the availability of available funds.

Pump Gileks Vodomet

Compared to other models, Gilex Vodomet submersible pumps are characterized by high efficiency and great durability. But still they are inferior to Aquarius in terms of the pressure provided and the amount of water supplied.

For owners of wells, the liquid extracted from them contains a minimum amount of mechanical impurities, the best choice is the Pedrollo 4Block 4/14 pump.

It is recommended for sources with a diameter of more than four inches and is equipped with a submersible three-phase motor. All main components of the device are made of stainless steel, which guarantees their long-term and trouble-free operation. A pump of this brand is capable of lifting water from a depth of up to 88 m and can only be used for liquids with a low content of mechanical impurities. The cost of this model is more than 23 thousand rubles.

The cheapest pump is Belamos TF3. It can be used both for lifting water from wells and pumping fresh liquid from open reservoirs. The main difference of the model is its simple installation. The presence of specially shaped impellers on the unit allows the pump to be used for pumping water containing a small amount of sand.

Belamos TF3 brand models

The housing of the unit is sealed against moisture, allowing the equipment to be operated in wells with a depth of up to 30 m. The cost of the model is about 7,500 rubles.

Now let’s compare the characteristics of the units discussed above with the Aquarius brand pump. This device, like all previous ones, can be operated when completely immersed in water. The liquid is the cooling medium for it.

The presence of reliable electrical insulation in all samples under consideration ensures reliable operation, and the use of environmentally friendly materials guarantees the absence of foreign impurities in the water.

In addition, in terms of other characteristics, Aquarius is not much inferior to foreign equipment, although it belongs to inexpensive pumps.

Let's sum it up

Based on the data obtained, we can conclude that the equipment of this manufacturer is an ideal choice for country housing. Using an Aquarius submersible pump allows you to organize a water supply system that can meet the needs of a specific family. The only condition is the correct choice of model, so that its parameters correspond to the characteristics of the well, and the cost satisfies the consumer.

The quality requirements for a submersible pump for a well are an order of magnitude higher than for a surface pump, because such a unit is located directly in the water, which is used as drinking water.

Everyone knows that high-quality equipment is quite expensive, but as it turns out, there is an exception to this rule.

The “black sheep” turned out to be the Aquarius deep pump: the technical characteristics of this device, as well as its quality, deserve the highest praise, and the cost is quite affordable.

Advantages of Aquarius brand pumps

Aquarius electric pumps have earned positive reviews from many consumers, having the following advantages and features:

  • The electric pump is made of high-quality parts (stainless steel, brass, high-strength plastic), ensuring a long service life.
  • The unit has high maintainability and can be easily disassembled with your own hands using simple household tools.
  • Electric pumps are unpretentious to operating conditions and can operate for a long time with slightly contaminated water.
  • The pumps have an internal winding with thermal protection against overheating and a long built-in cable with a remote capacitor unit - these factors significantly increase the reliability of the electrical part.
  • The Aquarius deep pump has an optimal balance of price and quality, its cost depends on the modification and amounts to 100 - 300 USD, which is several times lower than expensive foreign analogues (Grundfos, Pedrollo, Speroni) and comparable in price to Russian and Chinese models.
  • The manufacturer indicates a high service life of BCPE electric pumps, reaching up to 10 years with a minimum time to failure of 10,000 hours; the warranty period established for the electric pump is 1.5 years.

Ukrainian-made Aquarius electric pumps at the same cost, unlike their Russian and Chinese counterparts, are considered higher quality devices that can last at least 10 years without repair. The units have good maintainability; you can easily clean the electric pump with your own hands, repair minor breakdowns and replace the most frequently failing parts (bearings, impellers).

Operating principle of the submersible apparatus

To supply water upward and move it the required distance, it is necessary to create pressure. The centrifugal type of pump produces the required pressure by rotating a wheel (or several wheels), which is mounted on a working rod (shaft) and connected to the engine.

When the wheel starts, kinetic energy arises and is transferred to the blades, and from them to the liquid. As a result, water is scattered towards the walls, then moves from the receiver to the adjacent (upper) chamber, and in its place, under pressure, another portion of water from the well arrives.

Thanks to a simple but well-thought-out device, water flows smoothly, in a gentle manner, first into the body of the device, then through pipes into the storage tank

A suction pipe is designed to collect liquid, and a filter is provided to protect the internal parts of the device from clogging and rapid wear. The device is simple, but so effective that there is no point in looking for a device with a different operating principle.

All elements of the mechanism are placed in a fairly compact elongated “sleeve”, the design of which is ideal for lowering into a narrow wellbore.

Unlike vibrating analogues, centrifugal ones work evenly and carefully, due to which they do not lift sand from the bottom and do not destroy the walls of the well.

Purchase of components for installation in a well

installation

In addition to purchasing a pump that comes with an electrical cable and a rope for hanging, you may need to purchase the following equipment:

  • Hydraulic accumulator with a set of adapters. For a small family (2-3 people), a small hydraulic accumulator with a volume of 100 liters is sufficient: the larger the volume, the less often the device will turn off).
  • Header. The purpose of the well head is to cover the shaft from street debris and precipitation and serves as a place for attaching pipes.
  • Pipe from pump to tank. Required for outdoor use, 32mm or 40mm diameter.
  • Adapter from pipe to submersible pump. For an Aquarius pump and a pipe with a diameter of 32 mm, a product of type 1' with an outer cut of 32 mm is suitable.
  • Steel cable with clamps. If for some reason you are not satisfied with the product supplied in the kit.
  • Submarine cable. Used for electrical cables.

Together with the hydraulic accumulator and pump, a pressure switch and pressure gauge are purchased. Equipment made in Germany and Italy has proven itself to be excellent.

For example, if the tank volume is more than 300 l (8 atm.), the MDR 5-8 Grundfos relay model is suitable.

Work on the vibration principle

Units operating on the vibration principle also have vertical placement of working chambers. However, their internal structure is simpler. The housing compartments are separated by an elastic partition. The engine is located at the top. Water intake is carried out through the lower filter of the housing. An electric magnet is located in the engine compartment, causing vibration of the armature and piston in the pump chamber. The vibrations push water into the pipes, ensuring its uniform upward movement. The pumps have a minimum diameter of 8.5 centimeters - they can easily fit into narrow wells up to 10 centimeters wide.

Main characteristics:

  • productivity – 0.4 cubic meters per hour;
  • depth of use – up to 5 meters;
  • maximum pressure - 60 meters, including the length of the water supply.

Advantages:

  • low cost;
  • ease of installation and maintenance;
  • low power consumption;
  • long service life;
  • reliability;
  • compactness and light weight.

Flaws:

  • cannot be used at great depths.

Check valve installation

The check valve is not included with the pump, but its presence in the water supply system at home is necessary. The main purpose of the valve is to block the movement of water in the opposite direction.

This means that during operation the check valve is open and allows the liquid to move freely towards the disassembly points. However, when the pump is turned off, it shuts off the water, preventing it from moving back.

The valve is installed directly at the outlet of the well pump. It is mounted in a pipe above the pump, in some cases at a short distance from it (no more than 1 m).

When installing the valve, pay attention to the arrow indicating the direction of water movement. This is necessary so as not to embed the part with the back side.

Maintenance

To ensure trouble-free operation of the pump for a long time, it is necessary to inspect it regularly. Experts recommend doing this at least once every two years. .

To carry out inspection, the unit is carefully removed to the surface, holding it by the cable. The same rule applies as during diving - you cannot pull on the power cable or pipeline.

At the first stage of the preventive inspection, the presence of cracks and chips in the body is determined. Such a problem can only occur if the water freezes, which is unlikely in a properly insulated well.

Then the engine compartment cover is removed and the rotation of the shaft is checked. If it is difficult, the bearings must be replaced. They are included in the repair kit produced by the manufacturer.

If necessary, the oil seal is replaced, and all rotating structural elements are lubricated. The unit is reassembled in the reverse order.

A series of pumps with reduced water consumption.

The Aquarius 32 pump is designed for users who do not need high installation performance. This may be caused by a small flow of water into the receiving chamber of the well. On the other hand, high consumption is not needed for household needs. The range of 32 series pumps is extensive. Several models have been created due to pressure options and the use of equipment in deep wells. The traditional good price/quality ratio has been expanded with additional equipment. The standard cable length is equal to the pressure in meters. The kit includes a nylon cable - suspension and a capacitor unit connected to the cable. At the same time, the Aquarius 0.32-140U pump can supply water from a depth of 150 m.

The advantages of the 32 series are considered:

  • the ability to operate equipment with low flow rates in nominal mode;
  • the devices are manufactured taking into account sanitary standards for the contact of the instrument with food materials;
  • there is a thermostat;
  • sufficient cable length;
  • low cost of the product.

The user can easily select an Aquarius brand pump for pumping water from any tanks and wells with temperatures below 350 C. Equipment of this brand has proven itself to be reliable and resistant to voltage surges. Some models can be used in obviously muddy water. In Russia, Aquarius pumps are sales leaders.

The equipment is repairable, spare parts are inexpensive, and you can disassemble and assemble the instrument yourself.

Installation of pumps in a well

First, we determine what type of pressure pipeline is needed and carry out surface preparation.

Note: The use of a flexible watering hose is suitable for household needs such as watering, filling containers, and the pump can be removed frequently. The use of a plastic or metal pipeline is suitable for permanent stationary use, in which the pump will be constantly located in the well.

Depending on the pump flow rate, the diameter of the pipeline is selected. And the choice is made relative to the internal diameter, not the external one.

For domestic purposes, they mainly use a 32mm HDPE pipe with an internal diameter of 25mm, which is conveniently connected to a 0.5 series pump with the same size of pressure pipe.

A brass check valve is installed at the pump pressure connection. If the pump will be installed at a depth of no more than 3 m, the valve can be located on the pressure pipeline.

The submersible pump is connected to the pipeline using a cast or brass coupling of the required diameter. The coupling can be anywhere from one to one and a quarter inches in diameter depending on the model used and the diameter of the pipe.

The head is connected to the pipe in a similar way. The electric power cable is secured to the pipe with chotons. This makes lifting the pump easier and protects the cable.

Under no circumstances should the pump be lifted by the electric cable! Therefore, it is mounted on a pipe with slack to reduce the load.

It will be necessary to attach a safety stainless steel cable with a cross-section of three millimeters to the hole in the pump part and connect it to the head.

It is possible, but not advisable, to use a nylon cable.

Afterwards, the pipe is cut and its end is connected to the head using transition fittings. The head is fixed to the casing pipe.

How to determine water consumption?

To calculate water supply fluid flow, the following indicators are taken into account:

  1. The number of permanent residents in the house.
  2. Number of consuming points indoors (toilet, sink, shower).
  3. Number of water distributions outside the premises (greenhouses, summer kitchen, garage).

Water consumption per day per personAverage daily water consumption.
Then the consumption of all required consumers during simultaneous use is summed up. When making calculations, you can multiply the resulting amount by a factor of 0.6-0.8 or use a statistical table to obtain a more accurate result. The resulting water flow must be covered by the pump performance.

Preparing and installing the pressure pipeline

To reduce problems with delivering water from a well to a house, the pipeline must have certain qualities.

pipeline

Namely:

  • tightness;
  • strength;
  • minimum length;
  • no bends.

Twists and bends can cause air pockets to form, impeding the movement of water. The shorter the pipes, the fewer connecting elements are needed: fittings, couplings, flanges. It is not recommended to use a threaded connection. A possible product option is HDPE-32 pipe.

Repair

Most often, pump malfunctions are associated with silting of its rotating components - that is, the impeller. To fix the problem, the engine compartment cover is dismantled, and all parts of the impeller are thoroughly washed with water.

Disassembly is carried out in the following order:

  1. At the bottom end, where the filter is located, two bolts are loosened and unscrewed (in some models, a clamp may be installed instead of screws).
  2. The coarse filter is removed. Then four more bolts are unscrewed, holding the two working compartments together.
  3. The shaft is rotated several times using an open-end wrench (size number 12), and the impeller parts are washed with water. All dirt flows freely through the lower opening of the housing, which appeared as a result of dismantling the filter.
  4. If the shaft still does not rotate and the blades are completely clear of sludge, the cause of the breakdown may be failure of the impeller parts itself. You cannot fix this problem yourself. The owners will have to take the pump to a repair shop. Complete disassembly and reassembly of the device is carried out using a special press. Of course, you can disassemble the pump impeller at home. But it’s unlikely to be possible to assemble it correctly without a press.

Loss of pressure is often associated precisely with silting of the impeller or its breakdown.

Additionally, an inspection of the engine compartment is required to identify signs of overheating. If necessary, add oil. This preventative work is also best done in a workshop.

Features of operation

The instructions for this unit state that it can work continuously for a long time. This distinguishes it from similar domestically produced models, such as the Malysh (see Malysh Pump: let’s look at the technical characteristics) or the Brook, which require a 20-minute break after every two hours of operation.

Another feature of it is the possibility of year-round use, while many of its counterparts are able to function normally only in the warm season.

It is important. It is not even recommended to lift Aquarius pumps for wells to the surface unless necessary, as this shortens its service life.

Important for choosing a model is the diameter of the pump, which must correspond to the diameter of the well, type of construction, permissible immersion depth and other parameters.

Markings on the unit body indicate the permissible immersion depth, which should not exceed 5 meters for this model

It is worth noting that the established service life of centrifugal devices is 10 years, and vortex devices - 15 years.
